WASHINGTON (MAY 24, 2022) – On June 7, 2022, the nation's largest private suicide prevention organization, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), is hosting a virtual National Advocacy Forum to encourage legislators to prioritize suicide prevention and mental health policies that we know can save lives.
It also brings together 200 AFSP volunteer Field Advocates from across the country to learn about federal legislation and advocate for policies with members of Congress.

WHAT: AFSP’s top policy priorities will be highlighted including suicide prevention and screenings in emergency departments and funding to support the implementation of the new 988 number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and crisis response system.
WHO: The event will include pre-recorded remarks from members of Congress, including Sen. Lisa Murkowski [AK], Rep. Gus Bilirakis [FL-12], Rep. Jamie Raskin [MD-8], Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester [DE-At Large] and Rep. Tony Cárdenas [CA-29]. Remarks from NFL players and mental health advocates Dak Prescott and Solomon Thomas will also be included, along with remarks from leading experts representing emergency medicine and mental health organizations.
